Full Job Description
The Painting Panda Pottery Studio is looking for an outgoing and upbeat individual to join our Panda Crew team.
We pride ourselves on amazing customer service. Our desired applicant is someone who assists when needed to
help our guests with their creative needs. Offering suggestions and being visible on the floor ready to help our
guests is a must. We need someone who is highly dependable and will work their shift(s). Often, we have
parties, so we need someone who can work in fast-paced environments, but also make use of downtime. We
are looking for someone who will have the personality, patience, and enthusiasm to thrive in this role. Art
experience is NOT necessary but certainly a bonus!
Working at The Painting Panda Pottery Studio is like working in a restaurant. If you can perform well in that type
of fast-paced environment or have worked in a restaurant before, this could be the job for you.
Please note this is a year-round position. We are not hiring for just seasonal employment.

The Painting Panda Pottery Studio is a do-it-yourself/paint-it-yourself art studio based in Tacoma, WA, that
offers kiln-fired art projects including paint your own pottery. Our mission is to provide fun, friendly, and safe
opportunities for our community to create and connect for people of all ages.
Job Title: Studio Associate
Supervisor: Operations Manager
Working Conditions: Part Time, 10-20 hours per week on your feet most of the day.
Potential Work Schedule: We are currently open to customers 7 days a week (Monday-Sunday) 11am-7pm, however. Work shifts would be within these timeframes, however if associate opens/closes, time would be 30 min before/after open/close. Once fully-staffed – we may also expand our store hours to accommodate our studio’s demands. Work schedules would ideally be set for 2-4 weeks at a time.
*All team members are responsible for providing excellent customer service and ensuring the studio is a clean,
welcoming, and fun destination to explore creativity and make memories.
Studio Associate responsibilities include:

Greeting, assisting, and serving customers
-
Providing accurate information to visitors on products, techniques, pricing, etc.

Providing clear and easy to follow instructions for visitors of varying experience levels and ages
-
Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, including cleaning the studio, tables, and supplies
-
Multi-tasking while working the studio floor and assisting guests, including answering phone calls/texts
-
in a friendly and efficient manner and taking table reservations

Using Square POS to check out guests and handle cash and credit card transactions accurately and

completely

Glazing and loading/unloading kilns

Wrapping finished customer orders for pick-up

Processing orders, including matching and contacting finished orders

Leading and instructing parties and workshops for kids and adults in a confident and efficient manner

Putting away inventory and supply orders as they arrive and restocking shelves and supplies as needed.

Maintaining a clean and professional appearance

Contributing to the team environment at the studio by learning from and effectively communicating

with teammates.

Cleaning around studio including but not limited to: taking out trash, breaking down boxes, sweeping

floors, etc.

Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

Lifting of boxes and/or supplies between 5-50 pounds

Working 6+ hours on your feet

Stretching, twisting and bending to load/unload kilns or clean

Crouching, stooping or kneeling to stock or retrieve pottery or clean

Pay
Team Members start at $16.28/hr. Staff regularly averages an additional $2-3/hr to their base pay after tips, with most staff earning $19+/hr cumulatively. Tips are paid out to staff associates – if more than one associate works a shift – tips are split.
